That's the thing I miss about working for someone else. Just about the only thing I miss, I'll add ...<br /><br />Working for yourself is impossible to do without a supportive partner. In my personal experience, making the leap financially was not so scary. Why? a) because my partner made a lot more money than I and could easily support us, and I'm not saying that to brag, which you will see when you read b; and b) because the money I was making at my previous job was laughable. <br /><br />So, considering the little amount I was making in the newpaper industry, combined with the 70 miles a day I was driving to get to work, not to mention money spent on dry cleaning and dinner breaks and whatever else going into an office generally leads people to need to buy ... it was an easy call.<br /><br />My "commute" is now a walk down the hall. I don't eat out during the day - why would I? The kitchen is just downstairs. I can throw laundry in the washer during breaks from work, instead of my former life where I would wander around the canteen killing time for a few minutes. <br /><br />Do I work twice as hard? Absolutely. Do I know what a weekend is anymore? Not really. Is it worth it? Hands down, yes. <br /><br />All that said, if I, personally, was the breadwinner in my house, I would never in a million years work for myself. It wouldn't be worth the financial stress, in my opinion. I do this job because I love the work. I could give a rat's ass about the money. If I was supporting a family with my salary, that would be a completely different story.<br /><br />Thanks for the post, Joe - loved it!<br /><br />P.S.
