Hell ya it could be loads worse, but don't ask them to redirect the package due to their lack of timely delivery. They will lose it forevermore.
And to go pick it up? What do you do call and see where the truck is and catch them somewhere in town? Can you do that, I mean they deliver so many hours after other agencies do so what do you do go to the fed ex hub at say 10 pm or what?
Sounds like the cable company issues of years ago, not fun.

Perspective - like truth, beauty and contact lenses - all in the eye of the beholder. wtf were you thinking arranging a fedex delivery for the day before you go away - and for something you might actually need too. As if you didn't think this would happen. I admire your initial optimism, but suspect sir that you have merely set yourself up by ignoring the monumental and well-known incompetence of a mob of hatstands like fedex. Of course it could be worse. Imagine if no-one had said "it could be worse" and you were still just at simmering point, rather than "imma write a flaming blog on this with *anger* and punching! grr!"

And, FWIW, I loathe being told it could be worse. It's insulting to my intelligence, like you're pointing out something I didn't know? And why do we (effectively) take comfort in someone else's worse situation?

Perspective is well and good, but knowing that someone else is hurting or suffering or even just cranky does not make me feel better. I don't base how I feel on where I rank in the scale of misery.

i waited around all day for a fedex delivery that HAD to have a signature, when I could have been at the pool or the beach with my kids. Did they show up? sort of! never once did anyone knock on the door or ring the bell, yet when I went to take the trash out that night I found a missed delivery notice. I checked the status online and it said I was "unavailable/unreachable". Um, no. I sat right here all day and made sure the phone was working and everything. Assache is right! oh, i got my delivery 2 days later! can you tell i'm still irritated?

Something tells me if I agree with you and tell you that fedex is staffed by a bunch of moronic asshats, and that I feel the deepest sympathies for you, you'd be equally irritated.

Is it an option for you to just go pick it up yourself? I usually have to do that with fedex stuff, and it saves me the time and hassle of arranging time schedules out with a delivery driver.

I suspect most people who utter those four words aren't being optimistic, but rather either are personally, or know someone who is, having a rough time. An friend of mine lost his job today for something he said on Twitter. Your new laptop is arriving a day late? It could be worse.
