This reminds me of a quote from a former celebrity in the programming community known as '_why':

"When you don’t create things, you become defined by your tastes rather than ability. Your tastes only narrow and exclude people. so create."

The idea is that it's self-limiting to define ourselves by our interests, and that to truly be ourselves, we must create.

Wow, these thoughts have sorta been lurking beneath the surface of my mind for a long time but I never fully realized them until now. Basically the same stuff, though I was never a hardcore gamer. I always new about the latest computer hardware, software advances, and other tech stuff. Also the music industry (of course, it sucks now so who cares?)
