On the one hand, the nicer side of me wants to go easy on those types--gay or straight--because I am not a hardcore atheist and I don't want to give atheism a worse name than it already has.

On the other hand, I want to tell straight evangelists to shut the fU@# up, I'm tired of insanity being pushed on me like it's grace. As for gay Xtians, I want to say, "Dude, being family, I really don't want to hate on you. But have you read the bible? If you say you are a Xtian, it is clear that you are not welcome in heaven. You can pretend otherwise, but you are cherry-picking just as bad as the fundies are."

Part of me wants to brush religion off as "no big deal unless it harms someone," and the other part wants to stand up and be heard: "It IS harming people. Every day."

My whole outlook on it is "whatever blows your load as long as it doesn't hurt someone physically or emotionally." Doesn't mean I wanna sprint to a drag show, I just don't care if a dude likes to get his jollies in other dudes' dirt roads. I'm a pretty tough dude too, so I never feel threatened that my cornhole will be forcibly plowed.

How did you play it off when they were talking to you and you were typing the blog? Did you tell them you were typing notes or something?
